TGC Build Network was born from a simple belief: finding reliable, skilled construction workers should not take days of phone calls and uncertainty.
Our Story
In 2019, Marcus Chen — then a commercial general contractor in Toronto — was losing sleep over a recurring problem. A critical drywall crew had walked off a mid-rise project, and it took him three days of desperate phone calls to find replacements. The delay cost his client thousands.
That frustration sparked an idea. What if contractors could post a job need and have qualified, verified workers respond within hours? What if tradespeople could find consistent work without relying on personal networks?
Marcus teamed up with Sarah Mitchell, a staffing operations expert, and David Okonkwo, a platform engineer who had built matching systems at Uber. Together they launched TGC Build Network in 2021.
Today, TGC connects thousands of verified construction professionals with projects across the United States and Canada — from residential renovations to commercial high-rises. We handle verification, payment protection, compliance, and real-time communication so both sides can focus on what they do best: building.
